How MakeGig handles personal information when creators, brands, and campaign managers use the platform.
Effective October 29, 20261. Scope
This Privacy Policy describes how MakeGig ("MakeGig," "we," "us," or "our") processes personal information through makegig.com and the related creator, gig, review, portfolio, messaging, and campaign-management services that link to this policy (the "Service"). It does not govern third-party websites or services that MakeGig links to but does not control.
If you use MakeGig for an agency, brand, or other organization, this policy covers the personal information we process about you as its representative. That organization may separately control information it collects from creators outside MakeGig.
2. Personal information we collect
Information you provide
- Account and contact data: name, email address, role, authentication information, notification preferences, and support communications.
- Creator profile and portfolio data: handle, photograph, biography, location, languages, niches, content types, availability, rates, turnaround time, social profile links, past brand work, portfolio media, thumbnails, and captions.
- Creator demographic data: age range, gender, and one or more ethnicities, including “prefer not to say” selections. We treat this information as private and do not publish it on creator profiles.
- Campaign-manager and brand data: manager name, agency or business information, websites, managed brands, campaign and gig details, compensation method, deliverables, usage rights, deadlines, and uploaded cover or reference materials.
- Applications and collaboration data: application introductions, selected portfolio work, application status, agreed terms, task or deal progress, earnings records you enter, and related notes.
- Communications: messages, offers, attachments, reports, and moderation information exchanged through the Service.
- Reviews and evidence: ratings, written reviews, reported compensation and payment timing, brand responses, and optional contracts, invoices, payment records, emails, or briefs submitted privately to support a review.
Information collected automatically
We and our service providers may collect IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages or screens viewed, interactions, access times, approximate location derived from IP address, diagnostic logs, crashes, and security events. With analytics enabled, PostHog may record product events and session replays that capture interactions with the interface. We configure sensitive fields to be excluded or masked where supported, but you should not enter sensitive information into fields that do not request it.
Information from other sources
We may receive authentication data from a sign-in provider you choose. We also collect business information from public brand websites, social profiles, company representatives, creators, campaign managers, and data sets used to maintain the public company directory. For creator social links, an automated job may retrieve publicly visible follower or view metrics without requiring access to the creator’s social account. These metrics may be incomplete, delayed, or changed by the source platform.
3. How we use personal information
- Provide accounts, onboarding, public portfolios, creator discovery, the company directory, reviews, gigs, applications, messaging, campaign management, notifications, and data-export features.
- Display information you choose to make public and share application or message content with the intended creator, manager, agency, or brand.
- Personalize the Service and measure onboarding, feature use, performance, and reliability.
- Retrieve and refresh public social metrics associated with links a creator supplies.
- Moderate reviews and messages, verify review evidence, investigate reports, prevent spam and fraud, enforce rate limits, and protect users and the Service.
- Provide support and send account, security, application, campaign, and other service-related notices.
- Comply with law, respond to lawful requests, and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
- Create aggregated or de-identified statistics that do not reasonably identify an individual.
4. Public information and visibility
Creator profiles and portfolio pages may be public and searchable on the internet. Depending on your settings and what you publish, they may include your name, photograph, biography, general location, niches, languages, rates, social links and metrics, past brand work, and portfolio media. Public company pages may include business details, creator reviews, aggregated ratings, reported compensation ranges, and brand responses.
Search engines and other people may copy, cache, or share public information. Removing information from MakeGig does not guarantee removal of copies held by others. Messages, application details, private campaign notes, private review evidence, unpublished demographic data, and account settings are not public unless the Service clearly tells you otherwise.
5. How we disclose personal information
- Other users and the public: as described above, or when needed to deliver an application, message, offer, or campaign workflow you initiate.
- Service providers: providers supporting hosting, databases, authentication, file storage, email, analytics, error monitoring, public-data retrieval, security, and customer support. Current infrastructure includes Supabase for authentication, database, and storage; Vercel for hosting; and PostHog for product analytics and session replay.
- AI providers: when an AI-assisted feature is available and you request it, relevant context may be sent to Anthropic to generate a draft. MakeGig does not automatically send generated content on your behalf.
- Professional advisers and authorities: when reasonably necessary for legal, accounting, security, fraud-prevention, or compliance purposes.
- Business transferees: in connection with a financing, merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or part of the business, subject to applicable law.
MakeGig does not sell personal information for money. We do not use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. Cookies, analytics, and session replay
MakeGig uses cookies, browser storage, pixels, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember settings, secure the Service, understand product use, diagnose errors, and improve performance. PostHog analytics may associate activity across a session and may capture clicks, navigation, device information, errors, and a visual replay of interactions. See our Cookie Notice for more detail and available controls.
7. Sensitive demographic data
Age range, gender, and ethnicity can be sensitive personal information under some laws. We collect these fields during creator onboarding for product research and potential creator discovery or campaign-fit features. They are stored separately from public creator-profile data and are not displayed on public portfolios. We do not use a “prefer not to say” selection to disadvantage a creator. We will provide additional notice before materially expanding how this information is used.
8. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain security and business records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal obligations. Retention depends on the type and sensitivity of the data and why it was collected. Public reviews or records connected to another user’s account may be retained in de-identified or limited form when needed to preserve the integrity of the review system. When information is no longer required, we may delete, anonymize, or isolate it from further use.
9. Your choices and privacy rights
You can update many profile fields and visibility settings from your account, control non-essential notifications, download a copy of account data, and request account deletion. You may also opt out of non-essential marketing email by using the unsubscribe method provided.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of personal information; to restrict or object to certain processing; to withdraw consent; or to appeal a denied request. California and certain other U.S. residents may also have rights concerning sensitive personal information and disclosures. Because MakeGig does not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, we do not offer a sale or targeted-advertising opt-out.
Submit a request to contact@makegig.com. We may verify your identity and authority before acting. You may use an authorized agent where applicable. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
10. Security and international processing
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including access controls, row-level database security, private storage for sensitive evidence, request validation, and abuse controls. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or loss will never occur.
MakeGig and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
11. Children
MakeGig is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and users under 18 may not create an account. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
12. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the Service or law changes. We will post the revised policy with a new effective date and provide additional notice where required. Questions, privacy requests, and complaints may be sent to contact@makegig.com.
